AFF MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CUP
The brief: Cover AFF's semi-annual regional club competition via official social media platforms and website including live match coverage, branded imagery and video content, unique and brand-specific graphic design, and editorial coverage.
Backheel Media partnered with SportFive to run the ASEAN Football Federation's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for the 2020 edition of the Mitsubishi Electric Cup.
Coverage included everything from written match previews to inventive graphic design utilising the client's pre-existing properties, and a range of content in between.
Working hand-in-hand with SportFive and AFF's brand guidelines, we helped utilise the fastest growing social network to engage AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup fans on Tik Tok for the first time during a live tournament to great success quintupling the followers in just two months.
Our team of team of designers worked with SportFive's country-specific masks and the theme "Rivalries Never Die" to showcase stars throughout the region. With this in mind, we selected the most notable player from each nation and matched SportFive's polygonal style to create a collaborative finished product unlike any other in Asian football.
Continuing with the "Rivalries Never Die" theme, we looked to each nation's past in the tournament to highlight the generational legends who took the pitch throughout AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup's rich history.

Along with a look to the past, we also celebrated key moments throughout the tournament including player birthdays, group announcements, and historic milestones set during the 2020 edition of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup.
